EDM.Social

Privacy Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how EDM.Social (“EDM.Social,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) collects, uses, and shares information when you use the EDM.Social mobile application and related services (the “Service”). The Service helps you discover electronic dance music events near you, follow artists, and save the shows that matter to you.

By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service. This policy is incorporated into and governed by our Terms of Service.

Summary

The most important things to know:

  • An account is required to use the app. We collect your email address, basic profile details, and the music preferences you provide so we can personalize the events we show you.
  • We request access to your device location only to find the events nearest to you. We use it momentarily to determine your city or metro area, and we do not store your precise GPS coordinates on our servers.
  • We do not use third-party analytics, advertising trackers for our own profiling, or crash-reporting SDKs that build a profile of you. The recommendation signals the app generates from your in-app activity stay on your device and are never uploaded to us.
  • The free version of the app shows ads served by Google AdMob. On iOS, personalized ads are shown only if you allow tracking when prompted.
  • You can delete your account and personal data at any time from inside the app or by emailing us. See Account & Data Deletion.

Information we collect

Account and identity information

When you sign up, we collect information needed to create and secure your account. You can register with an email address and password, or with Sign in with Apple or Google. Depending on the method you choose, we receive:

  • Your email address.
  • Your name, if you sign in with Apple or Google and choose to share it.
  • A unique account identifier assigned by our authentication provider.
  • Your password is handled by our authentication provider and is never stored by us in a readable form.

Authentication is provided by Amazon Cognito (Amazon Web Services). When you use Sign in with Apple or Google, those providers share a verified identity token, and (on first sign-in, if you allow it) your name and email, so we can create your account.

Profile and preferences

To personalize your experience, you provide profile and preference information during onboarding and in your profile settings. This may include:

  • Display name and username.
  • Profile photo, if you choose to add one.
  • Short bio and pronouns, if you choose to add them.
  • Date of birth and gender, if you choose to provide them.
  • Your home city, region, or metro area.
  • Your music preferences, such as favorite genres, subgenres, event types, and the kinds of nights you enjoy.
  • Your device time zone, detected automatically to display event times correctly.

Activity within the app

When you interact with the Service, we store the actions you take so your account works across devices and sessions, including:

  • Events you save or “hype.”
  • Events you RSVP to or mark as going.
  • Artists you follow.
  • Your notification, calendar, and location permission choices.

Separately, the app generates on-device recommendation signals from how you browse (for example, which events you view and how long you spend on them) to power your personalized “For You” feed. These signals are stored only on your device and are not transmitted to our servers.

Location information

With your permission, the app accesses your device location while you are using it (foreground location only). We use it to determine your nearest city or metro area so we can show relevant events. We do not track your location in the background, and we do not store your precise GPS coordinates on our servers. We retain only the resulting city or metro area you confirm. You can also set your location manually instead of granting location access, and you can change or revoke this permission at any time in your device settings.

Purchases and subscriptions

If you buy a subscription or other in-app purchase, the transaction is processed by Apple or Google through their app stores. We do not receive or store your full payment card details. We use RevenueCat to manage purchases and to confirm your subscription status. For this purpose, RevenueCat receives your account identifier and purchase and receipt information, and tells us whether your account is entitled to premium features.

Advertising and device identifiers

The free version of the Service displays ads served by Google AdMob. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect device and advertising identifiers (such as the Apple Advertising Identifier (IDFA) or Google Advertising ID), along with general ad-interaction and device information.

On iOS, we use Apple's App Tracking Transparency framework. We show personalized ads using your advertising identifier only if you grant permission when prompted. If you decline, you will still see ads, but they will be less personalized. You can change this choice at any time in your iOS Settings under Privacy & Security > Tracking. On Android, you can reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings.

Calendar

If you choose to add an event to your calendar, the app requests calendar access in order to write that event to your device calendar. This happens only at your request. We do not read or upload your calendar to our servers.

Push notifications

If you enable notifications, your device is registered with the applicable push service (Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging, via Amazon SNS) so we can send you alerts such as event drops, hype activity, and a weekly digest, based on your preferences. You can turn notifications off at any time in your device settings.

How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • Create, authenticate, and secure your account.
  • Provide the core features of the Service, such as showing events near you and letting you save events, RSVP, and follow artists.
  • Personalize the events and recommendations we present, based on your stated preferences and location.
  • Process and manage subscriptions and premium entitlements.
  • Display ads in the free version of the app.
  • Send notifications you have asked to receive and respond to your requests.
  • Maintain, troubleshoot, and improve the Service, and protect against fraud, abuse, and security threats.
  • Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.

Where required by law, we rely on the following legal bases: performance of our contract with you (to provide the Service), your consent (for location access, notifications, and personalized advertising), our legitimate interests (to operate, secure, and improve the Service), and compliance with legal obligations.

How we share information

We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described below:

  • Service providers. We share information with vendors that operate the Service on our behalf, including Amazon Web Services (hosting, authentication, storage, and notifications), RevenueCat (subscription management), and Google (AdMob advertising and map and location lookups). These providers may process your information only to provide services to us.
  • Identity providers. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we exchange information with them to verify your identity.
  • App stores. Apple and Google process your in-app purchases and may retain related transaction records.
  • Other users. Limited profile information, such as your username, display name, and photo, may be visible to other users of the Service.
  • Legal and safety. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, and security of EDM.Social, our users, or the public.
  • Business transfers. If we are involved in a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to this policy.

Analytics and tracking

We do not integrate third-party analytics, telemetry, or crash-reporting services that profile you, and we do not use advertising trackers to build our own profile of you across other apps and websites. The recommendation signals the app derives from your activity remain on your device. The only advertising-related tracking is the AdMob behavior described above, which on iOS is subject to your App Tracking Transparency choice.

Data retention

We keep your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we remove your personal profile information promptly and permanently purge remaining account records and sign-in credentials within 24 hours through an automated daily process. We may retain a limited amount of information where required for legal, tax, accounting, or fraud-prevention purposes, such as purchase records held by Apple, Google, or RevenueCat. Aggregated or anonymized information that cannot identify you may be retained.

How we protect your information

We use technical and organizational measures to protect your information. Traffic between the app and our servers is encrypted in transit using HTTPS. Authentication tokens are stored on your device in the platform secure store (the iOS Keychain or the Android encrypted keystore). Access to personal data on our systems is restricted. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Your rights and choices

You have control over your information:

  • Access and update. You can view and edit your profile and preferences in the app at any time.
  • Delete your account. You can delete your account and associated personal data from the Profile tab in the app, or by emailing us. See Account & Data Deletion for full instructions.
  • Permissions. You can grant or revoke location, notification, photo, calendar, and tracking permissions at any time in your device settings.
  • Advertising. You can limit ad personalization through your device settings, and through the App Tracking Transparency prompt on iOS.

Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) or the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), including the right to access, correct, delete, or port your information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. We do not sell or “share” personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as those terms are defined under California law. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights.

Children's privacy

The Service is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under that age. Many events listed in the app may also carry their own age restrictions set by venues and promoters. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

International data transfers

We are based in, and operate the Service from, the United States. If you access the Service from outside the United States, your information will be transferred to and processed in the United States and other countries where we or our service providers operate, which may have different data protection laws than your country. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, provide additional notice within the app. Your continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the revised policy.
